Western Kentucky University has selected 22 students as recipients of the 2011-12 WKU Presidential Scholarship, the school’s most prestigious academic award.
The scholarship is valued at more than $14,800 annually and worth more than $60,000 during a four-year period.
Among them is Shelby Rogers of Hodgenville, a senior at LaRue County High School. Her parents are James and Dara Rogers. She plans to major in journalism.
Rogers was were among 36 applicants who visited WKU March 25 for activities that included an impromptu writing exercise and an interview. In addition to demonstrating outstanding scholastic achievement at the secondary level, applicants submitted personal statements, essays and letters of recommendation as part of the selection process.
