Several indicted by LaRue grand jury

Several people were indicted July 15 by a LaRue County grand jury.

Brian R. Austin (1962) of Upton was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, second degree; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of prescription not in a proper container; possession of firearm by a convicted felon; possession of handgun by convicted felon; and possession of firearm while committing an offense.
The alleged offenses occurred June 15. Austin is accused of possessing a Beretta .92F pistol and several other firearms after having previously been convicted of a felony.

Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, with conditions. The LaRue County Sheriff’s office investigated.

Mitzi Smith Moore (1961) of Elizabethtown was indicted for theft by unlawful taking. She is accused of taking cash belonging to the estate of Joseph B. Smith having the value of $500 or more but less than $10,000, between March 2012 and April 2013.

Bond will be set at arraignment on Aug. 5.

The LaRue County Sheriff’s office investigated.

Jeffrey Paul LaFollette (1980) of Hodgenville was indicted for first-degree fleeing and evading police; and second-degree persistent felony offender.

The alleged offense occurred May 25. LaFollette was convicted of five counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in Nelson Circuit Court in 2008.

Bail was set at $9,500 cash only.

The LaRue County Sheriff’s office investigated.

Jeffrey Quinten Edlin (1965) of Athertonville was indicted for manufacturing methamphetamine; and possession of legend drugs.

The alleged offenses occurred June 14.

Bond remains at level set in LaRue District Court.

Joshua W. Carlton (1986) of Hodgenville was indicted for third-degree burglary and complicity.

He is accused of unlawfully entering a barn with intent to commit a crime, while either acting alone or in concert with Gerrad Gordon, on May 20.

Bail was set at $2,500 cash only and no contact with alleged victim or co-defendant.

Hodgenville Police Department investigated.

Gerrad M. Gordon (1992) of Rineyville was indicted for third-degree burglary and complicity.

He is accused of unlawfully entering a barn with intent to commit a crime, while either acting alone or in concert with Joshua Carlton, on May 20.

Bail was set at $2,500 cash only and no contact with alleged victim or co-defendant.

Hodgenville Police Department investigated.

Wendy N. Thompson (1990) of Vine Grove was indicted for first-degree trafficking in controlled substances and complicity; possession of firearm while committing an offense; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity; and possession of marijuana and complicity.

The alleged offenses occurred May 26.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash only upon condition of no communication with co-defendant Joseph Hardin.

Hodgenville City Police investigated.

Joseph Wayne Thompson (1986) of Elizabethtown was indicted for first-degree trafficking in controlled substances and complicity; possession of firearm while committing an offense; tampering with physical evidence; carrying a concealed deadly weapon; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity; and possession of marijuana and complicity.

The alleged offenses occurred May 26.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash only upon condition of no communication with co-defendant Wendy Thompson.

Hodgenville City Police investigated.

Candace Amber Cornett (1982) of Hodgenville was indicted on a charge of welfare fraud. She is accused of failing to advise the Department for Community Based Services of her correct household circumstances along with earned income. She allegedly received $5,809 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits to which she was not entitled between Dec. 1, 2011 and Aug. 31, 2012.

Bail was set at $2,500 cash only.

The Office of the Inspector General investigated.

Leslie Dean Young (1958) of New Haven was indicted on one charge of second-degree trafficking in controlled substances, first offense. The alleged offense occurred Nov. 20, 2012. She is accused of selling hydrocodone pills.

Bail was set at $9,500 cash only.

The Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force investigated.

George Blanton (1961) of Hodgenville was indicted on one count each of second-degree assault; first-degree unlawful imprisonment; fourth-degree assault; resisting arrest; third-degree terroristic threatening; alcohol intoxication; and first-degree persistent felony offender.

The alleged offenses occurred June 23. He is accused of assaulting two people and unlawfully restraining one of them on that day.

Bail was set at $50,000 cash only upon condition of no contact with alleged victim.

Hodgenville Police Department investigated.

Shirley Feagins (1989) of Hodgenville was indicted on two counts of second-degree criminal abuse.

She is accused of striking two children under the age of 12 with a belt on May 24.

Bail was set at $2,500 cash only upon condition of no contact with the alleged victims.

The LaRue County Sheriff’s office investigated.

Arraignment for all cases is Aug. 5 in LaRue Circuit Court.
