Women in Rural Electrification is taking applications for $1,000 scholarships to a student whose family is served by a Kentucky electric cooperative and has at least 60 hours of credits at a Kentucky college. Deadline for application is May 9. Visit www.kaec.org and click on the link at the bottom of the New Info box. 

 

Class of 1968 Memorial

The LaRue County High School Class of 1968 established a $500 scholarship in memory of their deceased classmates. Applications are available at the LCHS guidance office. Deadline is May 9.

Dual credit

Kentucky high school juniors and seniors may apply for a scholarship to help pay for dual credit classes taken at a Kentucky college or university. 

The Mary Jo Young Scholarship, named for a former member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, provides assistance with tuition and textbook expenses for up to two classes each semester. Scholarships can only be used in the fall and spring semesters. 

To be considered, students must be in grades 11 or 12 during the 2014-2015 academic year. They must have at least an 18 ACT composite or earn at least a 2.5 GPA during the 2013-2014 academic year. 

Students must apply through their www.kheaa.com account. The application period runs through May 15.

 

KWIA

Kentucky Women in Agriculture Inc. is offering a $1,000 scholarship to women who are studying agriculture or related fields. Deadline to apply is May 26. For more information, visit www.kywomeninag.com, email info@kywomeninag.com or call 877-266-8823.

 

Young Farmers

LaRue County Young Farmers will offer at least one $500 college scholarship to a LaRue County High School senior who will enter college this fall. Applications will be based on financial need, scholastic aptitude, personal development, community service and Young Farmer Association involvement. No membership is required to apply. Preference given to those pursuing careers in agriculture and related fields. Applications available from the LCHS guidance counselor, LCHS agriculture teachers or Young Farmer advisor Daniel Carpenter, or email dcarpenter0012@kctcs.edu. Deadline to apply is May 30.
