The Hodgenville Woman’s Club will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior attending school in LaRue County or an adult residing in LaRue County who plans to enroll or is enrolled in college or technical school for the fall semester. Application will be considered on the basis of grade point average, financial need, community and school involvement and completion of a short essay describing career goals and need.
The scholarship will be awarded during Senior Awards Night or the May meeting of the Woman’s Club. Applications are available at the LCHS guidance counselor’s office, The Lincoln Museum or by contacting Faye Puyear, Woman’s Club scholarship chairperson, at 270-358-4749.
Applications should be postmarked no later than April 25 and mailed to Faye Puyear, 108 Fairway Dr., Hodgenville, KY 42748.
LaRue County Farm Bureau
LaRue County Farm Bureau will offer four $500 college scholarships open to both high school seniors who will enter college this fall, to undergraduate college students, and to adults interested in entering college or continuing their college education. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing careers in agriculture or related fields.
LaRue County Farm Bureau will also offer a $1,000 scholarship in memory of Ben H. Crawford Jr. Applicants for this scholarship must be a college sophomore or higher, including graduate students, pursuing a degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.
Scholarships are open to LaRue County Farm Bureau members and their children and judged based on financial need, scholastic aptitude, personal development and community service.
Applications may be picked up from the LaRue County High School Guidance Counselor, the LaRue County Farm Bureau, 606 North Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, or http://larue.kyfb.com. Applications must be returned to LaRue County Farm Bureau by close of business on April 30.
Edward E. and Thelma S. Ford Lincoln Museum Scholarship
Applications for the 2014 Edward E. and Thelma S. Ford Lincoln Museum Scholarship are now available through the LaRue County High School guidance counselor’s office or at The Lincoln Museum. This $500 award is made to a LaRue County graduating senior or to an individual continuing their education. Applications are due by April 30. Beef Cattle Association
The LaRue County Beef Cattle Association will offer two $1,000 college scholarships. Applications are available at the LaRue County High School guidance counselor’s office and the LaRue County Extension office. Scholarship applications must be returned to the LaRue County Extension office no later than the close of business on April 30. The winners will be notified before the end of the school year. Applications will be judged based on financial need, scholarship, and community service.
Lincoln Days will award a $500 scholarship to any LaRue County resident planning to further their education at an accredited institution. Requirements are a completed application form, two letters of recommendation, a recent transcript with GPA, and a 500-word essay on “Abraham Lincoln was an avid reader and proponent of lifelong learning. List one of your favorite books and explain how it inspired you to further your education.” Proof of enrollment will be required before scholarship will be awarded. Tri-County Car Club
A $500 auto-related scholarship will be awarded each May by the Tri-County Car Club in Campbellsville. The club has members from several counties.
Those interested in the scholarship should send a letter of application no later than April 30 to the Tri-County Car Club in care of Stan McKinney, 1007 Deer Park, Campbellsville, KY 42718.
Applicants should include a transcript of their high school grades including their attendance records and a short statement as to why they wish to pursue an auto-related career. All applicants should also include a statement as to financial need. Information about the scholarship is also available at www.tri-countycarclub.com.
Women in Rural Electrification is taking applications for $1,000 scholarships to a student whose family is served by a Kentucky electric cooperative and has at least 60 hours of credits at a Kentucky college. Class of 1968 Memorial
The LaRue County High School Class of 1968 established a $500 scholarship in memory of their deceased classmates. Applications are available at the LCHS guidance office. Deadline is May 9.
Kentucky high school juniors and seniors may apply for a scholarship to help pay for dual credit classes taken at a Kentucky college or university.
The Mary Jo Young Scholarship, named for a former member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, provides assistance with tuition and textbook expenses for up to two classes each semester. Scholarships can only be used in the fall and spring semesters.
To be considered, students must be in grades 11 or 12 during the 2014-2015 academic year. They must have at least an 18 ACT composite or earn at least a 2.5 GPA during the 2013-2014 academic year. Priority is given to students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch.
LaRue County Young Farmers will offer at least one $500 college scholarship to a LaRue County High School senior who will enter college this fall. Applications will be based on financial need, scholastic aptitude, personal development, community service and Young Farmer Association involvement. No membership is required to apply. Preference given to those pursuing careers in agriculture and related fields.
