Santa letters due by noon today

By The Staff

It’s that time of year when Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations mingle on the store shelves. And, that jolly old elf – Santa Claus – is already checking his list to see who’s been naughty or nice before he makes his rounds on Christmas Eve.

Santa has a lot of work to do to prepare for that evening, so once again, the staff of The LaRue County Herald News is cooperating with him to deliver wish lists for LaRue County children.

Boys and girls can address their letters to Santa c/o The LaRue County Herald News, 40 Shawnee Drive, Hodgenville, KY 42748.

We’ll need all letters by noon today. That seems early, but it will give our staff time to pass the letters along to the appropriate elves at the North Pole. We’ll also print the letters in the Dec. 24 issue of the newspaper.

After that, we’ll have a prize drawing, thanks to the generosity of the folks at Pamida. A boy and girl will win a prize through a random drawing of the letters received by our deadline.

Their photos will be published in the newspaper, if their parents say it is OK.

Santa requests that all letters be neatly written and signed by the child. Parents can help, if the child is very young, but the thoughts in the letter should be those of the child.

The child’s full name, age, address, school and grade must be included, but only the name and age will be published in the newspaper. The contact information will be used only to locate the child if there are questions about the letter’s content or if the child is the winner of the random draw.

Letters may be sent by mail or hand delivered to the Herald News. There is a drop box available for after-hours delivery.

Letters may also be e-mailed to heraldnews@kvnet.org if all personal information is included in the e-mail. Please check to see that the e-mail was received at our office.
