Ruth graduates from Naval Academy

Ensign Timothy J. Ruth graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., on May 27, 2011, and was commissioned into the U.S. Navy. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in economics.
He was inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and presented a flag by U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie. The flag was flown over the Capitol in Ruth’s honor on May 27.
Ruth reported to Point Loma, Calif. on July 4 where he finished first in his class for mine warfare training to prepare him for his first assignment on the USS Guardian, a mine-sweeping ship deployed to Sasebo, Japan. He arrived in Sasebo on Aug. 3 to begin his two-year assignment as a junior officer.
Ruth is a 2006 graduate of LaRue County High School.
