Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is continuing the Civic Health Initiative, a statewide series of roundtable discussions at Kentucky’s universities and colleges to improve Kentucky’s overall civic health, with an event at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25 on the campus of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.
The roundtable discussion will be held in Regional Postsecondary Education Center, Room 212 and parking will be made available in Parking Lot F1. Participants will include a wide spectrum of community leaders, business leaders and elected officials.
Secretary Grimes developed the Initiative to establish new partnerships and formulate strategies to reverse the trend of declining civic engagement revealed by the Civic Health Index <http://www.sos.ky.gov/NR/rdonlyres/9FE5219C-C76B-4274-9A56-F0430F7CC41F/0/2011KentuckyCivicHealthIndex.pdf> her office released in March 2012.
Topics discussed by the panelists and audiences have spanned all facets of citizenship and engagement, including voter registration and participation, volunteerism, community involvement and civic education.
