Bells are ringing, children singing and all is glowing on Sunrise Lane. About 40 head start children visited Sunrise Manor to bring season’s greetings to the nursing home residents.
The children gave Santa and Mrs. Clause their long list of Christmas wishes. Many requested trucks, cars, dolls and games, much like the residents’ children once did. Many of the more modern items on the lists were not so familiar – especially the electronic games.
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the residents were astonished with the fact that they had three brothers in the group. Triplets Kagan, Devin and Gabriel Rock enjoyed the field trip to Sunrise Manor and sharing their wish list with Santa. They also had their photos made with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Many other youth groups have been sharing the joy of Christmas in song with the residents. These intergenerational visits bring back many happy memories to the residents and help the loneliness that our elderly sometimes experience during the holiday season.
Sunrise Manor residents wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and may God bless each of you.
