A LaRue County farmer is recovering from serious injuries sustained in a silage chopper.
Gary Rock was working in a field on Slack Road in Roanoke about 7 p.m. Thursday. He was using a self-propelled chopper to cut corn stalks when the equipment apparently jammed.
The machine uses a belt to pull the corn stalks into the cutter. The stalks are cut into small pieces so they can be stored in a silo.
Rock apparently kicked or pushed the clog with his foot, according to his son-in-law, Chris Loyall. He was pulled into the cutter.
