Roads in LaRue County are treacherous, thanks to a coating of ice and covering of snow.
Road crews are out - but motorists should use extreme caution.
The majority of roads across all Kentucky counties were covered with snow and ice this morning. Crews have been working around the clock to keep routes passable.
Condition reports on major routes are available by calling 511 or by logging onto the 511 traffic and travel information website, 511.ky.gov.
The Transportation Cabinet's SAFE Patrol is available to assist motorists whose vehicles become disabled on Kentucky interstates and parkways. For SAFE Patrol assistance, call 511 or toll-free at 1-877-367-5982.
Salt and calcium were laid down on primary routes Sunday morning and afternoon. As temperatures fall into the lower 20s and single digits tonight, motorists must understand that chemical treatments become ineffective. Most roads were plowed for sleet overnight but have become covered again.
As snow continues to come down through mid-morning, roads will remain slick. Blowing snow is also quickly re-covering already plowed roads.
If travel is necessary, please know your driving limits and do not place yourself in a position to be stranded. Use extreme caution.
