Rep. Lee speaks to NARFE

-A A +A

Chapter 1050 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met in July for the second of three summer evening meetings.

Representative Jimmy Lee spoke about several issues including the recent BRAC announcements, the upcoming loss of Duke Brigade from Ft. Knox, the Kentucky legislative redistricting initiative, and the new annual budget for the state of Kentucky. He expanded upon the loss of funding from the sequester initiative, and the cost of the national Affordable Health Care Act.
He asked that members and friends try to attend a legislative breakfast or an open session for more legislative information.

The NARFE Political Action Committee defends federal employee benefits. Their goal is to harness NARFE’s electoral muscle to fight against attacks on federal workers’ and retirees’ benefits and pay. Even if you cannot attend the monthly meetings, call membership chair Sally Watkins at 270-257-8134 to join NARFE. More information is available at www.narfe.org.

The members are collecting paper items for the 11 a.m. Sept. 9 meeting. Items will be presented to Warm Blessings.

The last evening meeting is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Elizabethtown Nolin RECC conference room. NARFE members and eligibles will also be able to visit Sam Alexander’s Service Center that morning from 9 to 11 a.m. or call him at 270-769-1264.
