With less than four weeks until the May 17 LaRue County Relay for Life, local teams are in the final countdown to the big event. Eleven teams are participating in this year’s Relay which is scheduled for a 6 p.m. survivor registration and 7 p.m. kickoff at Hodgenville Elementary School.
To date, the teams have raised slightly more than $30,000 of the $57,000 county goal with more fundraising events slated in the upcoming weeks.
Freedom’s Angels has a huge yard sale on tap for May 11 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Park and Recreation Building in Hodgenville. Later that afternoon, the group is hosting a cornhole tournament beginning at 1 p.m. at the same location. The team is expecting a large turnout for both activities so registration is encouraged. Form a team and join in the fun. For more information, contact Shirley Jaggers or Rosetta LaFollette.
First Baptist’s Living Strong is sponsoring their annual chicken barbeque and live auction 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the church on Tonieville Road. Patrons may eat in or carry out a delicious meal of barbeque chicken (grilled by Todd Rogers and crew), slaw, baked beans, multi-grain roll and a variety of desserts.
The live auction with Kenny Lewis and staff will begin at 7 p.m. Katie McDowell, team co-captain, reports that auction items and services are still rolling in for this team’s main fundraiser of the Relay year.
The LaRue’s Got Talent Show slated for April 26 at the high school auditorium has been moved to fall as several talented individuals intending to perform ran into scheduling difficulties. Stay tuned for more information on this event in the months ahead. It promises to be a great event also.
