Pajama Party! This is the theme of the 2014 LaRue County Relay for Life which will be held this Friday, May 16 at Hodgenville Elementary School. Survivor registration begins at 6 p.m. with the actual ceremonies kicking off at 6:30. The Heartland Fillies, a local women’s barbershop singing group, will be on hand to entertain survivors and the gathering crowd.
New this year is Ms. Relay, a contest for local men dressed in their best lady’s formalwear. Those participating are Kyle Williamson, Ronnie Chelf, Jimmy Rogers, Russell McCoy and Larry Howell. Each of these contestants represents a Relay team and they will use their talents and speaking excellence to compete for the crown of Ms. Relay. Monies raised during the night from this event go back to their Relay team. Several portions of the contest will take place before midnight, so hang on to your hat for a night of fun with emcee Marsha Duncan.
Several local singing groups will entertain throughout the night and at 9:30 p.m., Roy Skaggs will auction one of his restored bicycles. This is Skaggs’ second pink bike to be auctioned for Relay. The luminaire ceremony in honor of and in memory of cancer victims is slated for 10 p.m. followed by a night of Bunco, karaoke and Bingo. The night promises to be a blast and is guaranteed to please. A dance party will take place at 3 a.m. so be ready with your dancing shoes and with closing ceremonies takes place at 6 a.m. Saturday.
LaRue County’s 2014 goal for Relay for Life is $60,500. Come out and support the cause.

6:30 p.m. – National Anthem by Heartland Fillies; Opening Ceremonies and Survivor Recognition
7 p.m. – Survivor Lap, Caregiver Lap, Team Lap
7:15 p.m. – Music by Malarie Skaggs
8 p.m. – First session of Ms. Relay (formalwear and questioning portions)
9 p.m. – Bank time; Linda Grimes and group (music); dunking booth open for business
9:30 p.m. – Pajama and stuffed animal lap
10 p.m. – Luminaire ceremony
11 p.m. – Second session of Ms. Relay (talent portion)
Midnight – Bank time; Bunco in cafeteria
12:30 a.m. – Announcement of Ms. Relay
1 a.m. – Karaoke ($1 donation)
2 a.m. – Bingo in cafeteria; flashlight lap
3 a.m. – Dance party
4 a.m. – Little Debbie walk
5 a.m. – Clean-up walk
6 a.m. – Closing ceremony
