Real faith is something you do

-A A +A

Not all who claim Christ actually live for Him

Fifty million Americans claim “I am born again,” according to a poll by George Gallup.

“But you don’t see anything in their lifestyle,” Gallup said.

A born again Christian goes to church, prays, studies the Bible, witnesses to others and gives to the cause of Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter into the kingdom of God.”

You act on real faith for it takes initiative and is practical. It gets involved with people. “We know that we have passed from death into life, because we love the brethren. Whoever does not love abides in death” (1 John 3:14). John says one proof of our salvation is that “we love the brothers.”

Someone said, “Faith is like calories. You can’t see them, but you can see the results of them.” You can see the results of faith. A chorus says, “If you are saved ... your life will surely show it.”

Many people have strong feelings about God, Christ, and the Bible, but it has to be more than head knowledge. One man said, “Many people will miss heaven by 18 inches.” He explained his statement by saying many had it in their head but not in their heart.

Real faith is something you do. It is active, a commitment and not passive. Our faith is demonstrated in what we do (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Paul said in II Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith.” Ask, “Am I really a believer? Is my lifestyle any different from an unbeliever? Do my works demonstrate my salvation?” Make sure.
