Chris Price has been named the new assistant principal of LaRue County High School.

He learned of his selection July 15 from newly selected principal Kyle Goodlett.

“I was really excited; hoping that he’d call me to tell me that I did get the job – you never know until you get that phone call …until then there was a lot of nervousness,” Price said.

Goodlett called Price “a man of character and integrity who has spent his entire career serving the students of LaRue County. Chris is an excellent teacher who has great rapport with students and parents. I know he will do a tremendous job in this new role.”

Price, who has been a teacher and coach at LCHS for 19 years, taught Algebra 1 and later Algebra 2 after raising his certification five years ago.

Throughout his time at LCHS, Price was a coach for the LaRue County Hawks boys and girls, seventh and eighth grade basketball teams, and the Lady Hawks freshman team. He served eight years as head baseball coach.

Price resigned in 2012 to pursue completing his Rank 1 in Administration from the University of the Cumberlands.

He holds a masters in secondary counseling and bachelor of arts in middle grades education from Western Kentucky University.

He is married to Theresa Hedrick Price; they are expecting their first child, a boy, in October.

Price said he hopes to one day to coach his son.

He has set a few goals for the upcoming school year.

“Trying to take this school to a top 10 percent school – that’s the immediate goal … I think that our personalities are just different enough to where we can get stuff done and work well together,” said Price.

He added that he is looking forward to the teachers and Principal Goodlett.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to be an administrator at my alma mater, and the school in which I’ve spent my entire career.”

“I thank Mr. Goodlett for trusting me and giving me this opportunity… I’m honored and thankful to be in this position. I’ll work as hard as I can work and I’ll do the very best I can,” said Price.

His duties begin immediately.
