Much of LaRue County was without electricity for about an hour Thursday night.
City police stayed busy, checking on businesses that were attempting to close for the evening – and monitoring inoperative traffic signals.
The cause, as determined by LG&E and KU officials, was a downed wire in a substation located in Hardin County. The line fell on the capacitor bank inside the substation causing an emergency shut down, similar to a kicked breaker within a home.
