The cost of mailing a first class letter goes up on Jan. 26. The cost increases by 3 cents per letter. The increase is called “temporary” and will last for two years.
After that the expectation is the cost of a one ounce letter would decrease by 2 cents.
“Forever” stamps – now available for 46 cents – purchased before the increase will still be valid for all one ounce letters.
