A place to get away from it all

Those looking for a quiet country stay don’t have to look any further than a vacation home that is located in northern LaRue County.

Countryside Getaway is a vacation home that is located on 50 Trumbo Road in Hodgenville. The three bedroom, two full bathroom vacation home can sleep up to 10 people and it includes a front porch, deck, screened gazebo, BBQ grill, fire pit, bicycles, corn hole games, horseshoes and several other amenities and games for people of all ages.

Owners Jimmy and Kaye Curle bought the property in the late 1990s. Jimmy Curle grew up on the property, as it was his family’s farm and home when he was a child.

“After buying it, we fixed everything up and rented the house out. As people who rent know, with renting you get some good renters and some bad renters,” Kaye Curle said. “We put too much into this place to have it destroyed by a bad renter. The people who typically use vacation homes take care of the place and are respectful. So, we decided to make it into a vacation home.”

Jimmy Curle said that their location is what makes them a great vacation home. He said within a 50 mile radius, visitors can tour the bourbon trail, Fort Knox and the Patton Museum, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park, Abraham Lincoln’s Boyhood Home at Knob Creek and several other attractions.

“We are also not far from Bowling Green, Louisville and Lexington with all of their attractions,” Jimmy Curle said. “We have had people come and stay from all kinds of different states. We are also expecting someone from British Columbia in March. They come from all over.”

Kaye Curle said not only are they centrally located to many different attractions, but she said that people come to simply “get away from it all” and enjoy the quietness of the country.

“A lot of people that have stayed here said they were wanting to get away from city life, so they came here to relax in all the open land and quietness of the country,” Kaye Curle said. “Even people who stay busy touring the area during the day can come back here and rewind afterward. A lot of people have commented that they also love seeing the deer, turkey and other wildlife here.”

The couple plans on adding a wooded walking trail in the near future. Countryside Estates offers a wide range of availability for stays of one night, two nights, three nights or more.
