Rolling Thunder Inc. Chapter 4 Kentucky in association with The Lusk Group performed a POW/MIA flag-raising on June 9 in Muldraugh. The flag-raising team consisted of John Locke, Mike Preston, Cap Stanley, Mike Hill and Charley Wachowski. Mark Gill led the formation of Rolling Thunder Inc. Chapter Four Kentucky members.
A.R. Boots Edwards presented a history of the POW/MIA Flag. The origin goes back to 1971 when the wife of a MIA serviceman recognized a need for a symbol for the POW/MIAs. The design chosen shows a silhouette of a man's head with barbed wire and a watchtower in the background. Below the design, the flag bears the motto "You Are Not Forgotten." In 1990, the 101st Congress officially recognized the POW/MIA flag. The flag has flown over the White House continually since 1982 and over the Capitol rotunda.
