Former LaRue County High School Coach Cortland “Corky” Cox presented the most valuable player award to Darryl J. Smith Dec. 1 at a tournament named in his honor. Smith, a sophomore, scored 17 points on a pair of 3-pointers and 5-of-7 shooting from the free-throw line to help his team, the Henderson County Colonels, defeat Fifth Region champion John Hardin in overtime 75-69.
