On the strength of Truman Padgett's performances, LaRue County recorded five points in the Class 2A Boys' State Track Meet held Friday and Saturday at the University of Louisville’s Owsley Brown Frazier Cardinal Park.
A junior at LCHS, Padgett, finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time 51.21, which was less than 2 seconds behind the champion. It was an improvement from his time last week of 51.75 which won the region championship.
In the 200-meter dash, Padgett finished 15th with a time of 23.40. He also won the region in that event as the Hawks finished third in the region's team standings.
Seth Clifford, another LaRue County region titleholder, finished 18th in his event at the State Meet. He ran 800 meters in 2:09.48.
Based on the official KHSAA report, here are the other results for LaRue boys at the meet: discus, Kenneth Sanders, 129-11, ninth; triple jump, Tobi Chirunga, 41-03.75, 11th; 4x800 relay team of Clifford , Ryan Durbin , Bradley Dyson , Padgett ran the race in 8:56.78, 15th place; 110-meter hurdles, Tobi
Chirunga, 16.51, 12th; 4x400-meter relay team of Tristen Hines, Bradley Dyson, Chirunga 12, Clifford, 3:38.01, 13th place; and Tyler Davenport, shot put, 42-03.25, 16th.
In n the girls' competition, Shana Zajdel finished ninth in the triple jump at 32-01.25; Haley Carrico went 4-06 in the high jump, 22nd; the 4x200 relay team of Ashley Clairmont, Tai Phillips, Tanesha Woods and Zajdel came in 19th at 1:56.34: and the 4x100 relay team was 20th with the same runners.
