An overturned grain truck closed Ky. 52 about four hours Thursday.

Michael Allen, 41, of Hodgenville, was driving a semi-truck in the 1000 block of Lyon Station Road about 6:55 a.m., according to LaRue County Deputy Eric Williamson. The rig, owned by Boone’s Farm of New Haven, was hauling a load of corn.

The truck met another semi on the narrow roadway, said Williamson.

“He took the ditch and the tires went off the pavement,” he said. The truck overturned and slid on its side several feet in a ditchline. Most of the corn stayed in the trailer but some spilled on the roadway.

Two large wreckers were needed to upright the semi-truck. Another was used to offload the corn to lighten the load so the vehicle could be moved.

Allen was not injured.
