Officers are searching for a person who eluded them on motorcycle and on foot Thursday night.

According to Acting Chief Steve Johnson of Hodgenville City Police, a man driving a motorcycle – described as a noisy “crotch rocket” – ignored Officer Robby Brownfield’s attempt to stop him in downtown Hodgenville.

“We’ve had a lot of complaints about the noise,” Johnson said.

The motorcyclist “deliberately revved it up” and took off, heading toward the Roanoke section. Brownfield gave chase in his cruiser.

A few miles out of town, near Union Christian Church, the cyclist lost control of the bike and “laid it over” near the crest of a hill, Johnson said.

Brownfield’s cruiser “brushed” the motorcyclist, who ran through a field and was able to elude officers.

There was no damage to the motorcycle or cruiser, Johnson said.

If you have any information about the incident, which occurred about 10:20 p.m., contact HCP at 358-3013.

The Urban Dictionary defines a crotch rocket as a sport bike – a very fast, highly mobile bike where the rider is low and leaning forward.
