After more than a year of construction the new Sunrise Manor Nursing Home is nearing completion.
The Signature Healthcare-managed facility will host an open house for the community 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.
Employees will “likely be stationed throughout the building to guide visitors as they explore the new facility,” according to Signature’s media relations manager Ben Adkins. There will be a short program, but “overall, pretty informal.”
The building boasts about 100,000-square feet, two-floors and five nursing stations. It will provide skilled and long-term nursing care, short-term rehab-to-home unit, speech, occupational and physical therapy, outpatient physical therapy services and adult day care. It is licensed for 137 resident beds, compared to 122-beds in the older Sunrise facility built in 1967.
Patients are still being cared for in the older Sunrise Manor building adjacent to the new one on Phillips Lane.
A date for residents to move into the new building has not been set, Adkins said.
Signature Healthcare signed a contract to manage the home in March. The company – which moved its headquarters from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. to Louisville in October – manages 72 skilled nursing facilities in seven states including 17 in Kentucky. They include nursing homes in Spencer County, Trimble County and Morgantown.
