Students in Hardin and LaRue counties have a new scholarship to apply for in helping pay for their college tuition.

Campbellsville University’s recently chartered Hardin/LaRue Alumni Chapter has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to students from those counties who attend CU. Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of CU, signed proclamation agreement in support of the scholarship at Campbellsville University’s Homecoming Oct. 10.

The purpose for endowing the scholarship is to ensure there are funds available to award the scholarship each year.

Debby Duda, a 1982 alumna of CU and president of the Hardin/LaRue Alumni Chapter, said, “With the economy in the state it is, many prospective students are reluctant to choose a private school because they think they can’t afford it. We want to encourage students from our area to choose Campbellsville University by providing an additional scholarship opportunity for them.”

“We would like to see the fund build up enough to eventually award a scholarship to a student at each of the high schools in our area, as well as to a home school student,” she said.
