New Haven man accused of sending drugs into jail

A New Haven man faces charges of promoting contraband and theft by deception.

James Michael Rust, 30, of Cissal Hill Road, was charged with two counts of introducing a controlled substance at the LaRue County jail.

Rust allegedly had a family member hand-deliver a letter containing pills and rolling papers to an inmate at the jail in July.

Rust also faces four counts of theft by deception under $300 for allegedly writing cold checks to local businesses.
