Nelson Circuit Court sentencing

-A A +A

The following people were sentenced recently in Nelson Circuit Court. All had previously entered a plea of guilty or had been found guilty during a criminal trial. Unless otherwise stated, all jail sentences are served concurrently.

• Cynthia Elizabeth Humphrey, 28, Bardstown and New Haven, was sentenced to 12 months in jail for two counts of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. She was granted a conditional discharge for a period of two years following set conditions, including supporting dependents and meeting other family obligations. According to court records, Humphrey cashed two $100 checks, forged on the account of another person, in May 2011.

Humphrey's sentence will be served concurrently with two other convictions.

Humphrey was also sentenced to two years in prison for theft by unlawful taking. She was granted probation for a period of five years following set conditions, including serving 30 days in Nelson County Jail, paying restitution to the victim and completing drug treatment. According to court records, Humphrey stole approximately $1,300 from another person.

Because of the above charges, a pretrial diversion awarded to Humphrey in November 2010 was voided, and Humphrey was sentenced to two years in prison for first-degree possession of a controlled substance. She was granted probation for a period of five years following set conditions, including being on good behavior and committing no substantial violations of the law. According to court records, Humphrey was discovered in possession of hydrocodone and oxycodone pills in June 2010.

• Ronnie Dale Nally, 32, New Haven, was sentenced to one year in prison for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fourth offense, and charged a $25 fine for possession of an open container in a vehicle. His motion for probation was denied on the grounds it would unduly depreciate the seriousness of the crime. According to court records, Nally blew a blood alcohol level of 0.195 on June 8.
