Two people – and a group of bicyclists – escaped serious injury in a two-vehicle crash May 22.

Agnes Osgood was driving a Chevrolet Blazer on U.S. 31-E about a mile past Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park. Osgood said she was driving behind a group of bicyclists when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a Ford Escort driven by Otis Nunn.

“I saw his car a ways behind me when I looked in the rearview mirror when I was going up the hill,” she said. “I looked back at the bicyclers and heard a ‘pow’ out of nowhere.”

The Escort left the roadway and came to rest in a field. Osgood’s Blazer came to rest on the side of the roadway.

Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officers Brian Wood and Nicholas Pruitt were dispatched to the scene, along with LaRue County EMS.

Nunn suffered a small cut on the right hand from shattered glass.
