Second-ranked LaRue County went 5-0 Saturday to win its fifth Kentucky Wrestling Coaches’ Association State Duals championship at Lexington Henry Clay. The Hawks drew the No. 4 seed and were in a pool with No. 8 Oldham County, No. 9 Whitley County and No. 10 Campbell County. LaRue County defeated Whitley County, 36-28; Campbell County, 40-21; and Oldham County, 40-30 to advance to the semifinals of the 16-team event. Longtime LaRue County coach Gary Canter said this was probably the toughest pool the Hawks have ever been placed in.
