A deer is blamed for an Oct. 30 wreck that sent a 60-year-old Hodgenville man to the hospital.

According to a LaRue County Sheriff’s Office report, Russell H. Cooke was driving north on Bardstown Road about 9 p.m., nearly seven miles outside of Hodgenville's city limits, when he swerved to avoid a deer.

His 1986 Buick overturned and landed in a nearby ditch, according to the report. Road conditions were wet, according to the report.

Cooke failed a sobriety test administered by a deputy, the report said.
