A Mount Sherman man faces 126 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of first-degree sodomy in three counties.

Joseph Edward “Eddie” Wimsett, 30, of George Lee Road, was indicted on 100 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of sodomy by a LaRue County grand jury June 15. The arrest came as the result of an investigation by Det. Aaron Gabhart of Kentucky State Police, according to court records. The detective presented the case to the grand jury directly, rather than district court.

Wimsett is accused of using force on the alleged victim – a 12-year-old girl – between Jan. 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2008. The alleged victim is an acquaintance of Wimsett’s, according to KSP.

Wimsett will be arraigned in LaRue Circuit Court July 7. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only.

Wimsett was also indicted on six counts of first-degree sexual abuse June 17 in Nelson County. Bond was set at $30,000 cash only and no communication with alleged victim. He will be arraigned in Nelson Circuit Court July 2.

In Green County, Wimsett faces 20 counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was arraigned in Green Circuit Court June 3. A discovery conference is set for July 15 and pre-trial conference Sept. 9.

The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only and the person is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
