Bardstown police file 11 charges against suspect

A man who led the Bardstown Police Department on a half-hour chase Thursday night claimed he simply wanted to finish his beer before stopping his vehicle.

Larry Michael Rigdon, 38, Henderson racked up 11 charges in a pursuit that began in Bardstown and ended in LaRue County.

Bardstown Police Chief Charles Marksbury told PLG news that Rigdon was driving recklessly and nearly ran over several police officers. The chase also traversed the highway for several miles as Rigdon hopped on the Bluegrass Parkway at Exit 25 and left the roadway at Exit 21.

Rigdon was charged with two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment and reckless or careless driving, and one count each of resisting arrest, second-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, operating a motor vehicle without a license, second-degree wanton endangerment.
