A Hodgenville man was charged with driving under the influence after a single-vehicle wreck outside Athertonville about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 2.
James Maggard, 57, of Peake Road, was driving a 1990 Chevrolet pickup on the 9400 block of Bardstown Road when he failed to negotiate a curve just outside Athertonville, according to Deputy Matt Darst.
The pickup left the roadway, struck some rocks, went down an embankment and struck a tree. The vehicle was damaged severely – the back axle was torn off along with one of the front wheels, Darst said.
