Hodgenville Main Street and the City of Hodgenville will sponsor Family Fun Day 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 8 at Creekfront Park.
The duck derby will be held again. Pre-purchase duck tickets for $1 each at the Main Street office or, if available, from the information desk Aug. 8. Cash prizes of $30, $10 and $5 will be given for the three fastest swimming ducks in the creek. Ducks sold out early last year, so get yours now. The derby is sponsored by the Lincoln Museum.
Other games include cornhole, watermelon seed spitting, water balloon tossing, sack races, a dunking booth and football toss. A slow-pitch softball game between First Baptist Church and Hodgenville Methodist Church will be at 2 p.m.
The LaRue County Health Department will provide blood pressure, blood sugar and other screenings and information about WIC and other programs. There will be health and safety information and demonstrations from fire departments, EMS and other emergency responders – even a helicopter.
Food and drinks will be available.
At 1 p.m., birthday cake will be offered in honor of Main Street Kentucky’s 30th anniversary.
Another feature of the day is a yard sale to be held at the city parking lot between the Sweet Shop and City Hall. Booths are $15. To pre-register, pick up a form and a sheet of rules and information at the Main Street Office inside the Chamber of Commerce building on the square.
