The state convention of Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) met April 18-10 in Louisville. This year’s theme “Celebrate Retirement” featured several speakers, encouraging members to volunteer in their communities and giving pertinent information on federal issues regarding public pension plans. Dr. Stephen Boyd gave the address at the luncheon entitled “Be Present When You Are Absent.” Retired teachers of LaRue County received recognition for meeting their membership goal for the current year. The Elizabethtown-Hardin-Larue County Retired Teachers Association (EHLRTA) received a silver level of achievement for their community activities and membership for the year.
Local delegates of EHLRTA who attended the convention included Elaine Alicna, Ann Bennett, Donna Carter, Susan Cross, Bobby Humes, Linda Humes, Ramona Jeffries, Bill Kelley, Pam Kelley, Lin Linder, Joy Carroll Miller, Joyce Miller and Patsy Young. KRTA, with more than 28,000 members statewide, works to maintain the pension funds for retired teachers in Kentucky. The next meeting of EHLRTA is at 11:30 a.m. May 19 in the atrium of Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. All retired teachers are encouraged to participate and support the local association.
