Library staff receive scholarships

-A A +A

Virginia LaMuth, Lisa Jo Williams and Sarah Graff, employees of the LaRue County Public Library, have been named recipients of a Library Science Tuition Scholarship.

Each employee received a $500 scholarship and all three are attending Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

The State Board for the Certification of Librarians created the Library Science Tuition Scholarship program to encourage continuing education among library administrators and staff. The board distributed $8,000 in scholarship money to 11 Kentucky public library employees for the spring semester.

The board is composed of the Kentucky state librarian and five members appointed by the governor. The board reviews questions on the process of library certification, hears appeals on certification and certification renewal matters and issues and renews library certificates.
