LETTER: Lincoln Memorial ceremony gave time to reflect

I just wanted to thank everyone that helped with the centennial celebration of the dedication of the Lincoln Monument.

The park was beautiful, the staff is very professional, and hearing our State Champion LaRue County High School Band play those particular selections made for a great event.

I also wanted to thank Representative Michael Meredith, our 19th district voice in Frankfort, and Hodgenville Mayor Terry Cruse, for personally attending the event. So often now the people who get elected are there shaking hands during campaign season, but after that they are too busy attending to other matters to go to events like this, in places like this, where they can ponder on why they got sent to Frankfort or Washington, then draw inspiration from it.

Of the people, by the people, and for the people isn't the stale slogan some think it is. By the grace of God only, it is still alive and well in America.
