LaRue County is covered by a tornado watch alert issued by the National Weather Service.
The watch is scheduled to be in effect until 2 a.m. EDT Friday. The initial Kentucky watch zone has been expanded to the east and now covers more than half the state, including Hardin and all adjacent counties.
The area also is part of a wind advisory. Steady winds of 40 mph have been recorded and are expected to continue until midnight or later, according to forecasters.
A watch indicates conditions are right for a tornado to form. Be alert to changing conditions and prepare to take shelter in a basement or the lowest level of your residence or workplace if a warning is issued.
