Sisters Melanie Huhn and Brea Huhn each had 28 kills and the LaRue County Lady Hawks went 5-1 to win their own Abraham Slam Jam on Saturday.
LaRue County (15-5) beat Marion County, 25-18, 24-26, 25-17 for the championship. The Lady Hawks also beat John Hardin (25-15, 25-18) and Campbellsville (25-15, 25-12) in the eight-team event’s single-elimination tournament.
In pool play, LaRue County beat Taylor County (25-16, 25-23) and Washington County (25-18, 25-20) and lost to Spencer County (22-25, 16-25).
Melanie Huhn, a senior, also had eight aces and two blocks, while Brea Huhn, a junior, had 11 digs, three blocks and three aces.
Senior Tessie Embry chipped in with 17 blocks and 15 kills, while junior Molly Kennedy added 36 assists, nine aces and seven digs.
LaRue County will host 16th District rival Hart County at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
