LaRue advances to softball semifinals

Two runs in the eighth inning Monday extended LaRue County’s softball season and completed a 3-1 upset of Adair County in the opening round of the 5th Region Softball Tournament being played in Hodgenville.
The Lady Hawks’ senior catcher Ellen Huff stroked a tiebreaking single in the top of the eighth inning to fuel the win.
The Lady Hawks (13-21) will play North Hardin (18-17) in the semifinals at 8 tonight as LaRue tries to make it back to the final for the first time since winning the tournament while also playing host in 2005.
