LaRue County’s Lady Hawks held a 1-0 lead through the sixth inning May 14 against Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals.
The Lady Cards scored all five of their runs in the seventh inning, breaking LaRue’s three-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory.
Sophomore Trishtian Cruse went 2-for-2 for LaRue, while sophomore Sierra Mullins had an RBI single.
Sophomore Emillee Cundiff struck out six and gave up five earned runs, five hits and three walks.
The Lady Hawks defeated Elizabethtown 13-2 Thursday.
Junior pitcher Brigitte Skaggs had the win for LaRue.
LaRue County scored five runs in the fourth inning as Peyton Gardner smacked a two-run single and Jill Hughes and junior Courtney Johnson had back-to-back RBI singles.
LaRue County tacked on three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to win for the fourth time in five games.
Fort Knox flopped
The Lady Hawks defeated Fort Knox 16-1 Friday in four innings.
Gardner, Brigitte Skaggs and Cruse each had two hits for LaRue County. Skaggs scored four runs and drove in two, while Gardner and Johnson scored three times. Cruse had three RBIs and freshman Mallory Skaggs had two.
Cundiff allowed just a first-inning run in tossing four innings and striking out six.
