Lady Hawks hammer Hart, improve district standing

 The LaRue County Lady Hawks defeated 18th District rival Hart County on Friday, 66-25.

Junior Ivy Brown had a game high 33 points, eight rebounds, six steals, four assists and two blocks.

Senior wing Haley Holt had 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Senior center Alisha Durbin had 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, marking her third straight game with multiple blocks.

Brown and Holt combined to score the game’s first 12 points before Durbin completed a three-point play with 4:04 left in the first quarter.

Presley Brown, Delaney Eastridge, Miranda Hornback, Becca Riggs and Mallory Williams each added two points.

Alexis Brewer was sidelined with an ankle injury and Coach Travis Wootton said she would be out two weeks. Brown, Holt, Williams and Eastridge took turns filling in as point guard in her absence.

Hart County, which is the first district team to finish its district schedule, will be the No. 4 seed for the district tournament. With the win, LaRue County assured itself no lower than the second seed for the district tournament.
