It’s time to let us know if you will be coming to the wonderful free program on how best to present your community, your organization and your business with topnotch hospitality and communication skills. It will be presented by Michelle Spencer-Allen of the Southern & Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development Association. STAR stands for Service, Training, Achievement, Recognition. Learn how to “Give ‘Em the Pickle” to create loyal customers. To register or for more information, e-mail mainstreethodgenville@windstream.net or call 358-5913. The program will be at 8:30-10:30 a.m. July 15 in the Lincoln Museum Community Room.

Hodgenville Main Street/Renaissance now has a Facebook page, thanks to the expertise of our incoming president, Kenny Rambo. Keep your eye peeled for events and news of interest. We’re really looking forward to hearing some more from you, too, and having lots of “fans.” The list is growing rapidly.

Those lovely roses Main Street planted are suffering from this super-hot weather, as are plants everywhere. An early morning Good Samaritan is out doing some watering, but can’t do it all the time. If you have flowers outside your business, be kind to them. Protect your and our investment and keep the square from looking like it’s turning into a desert. While you’re at it, dump out those containers with trash and cigarette butts at your door and keep trash containers empty. Look at your entryway with the eyes of a visitor and see if it comes up to your expectations. Then look each direction beside your door and see if the entire picture is pleasing and inviting. Don’t take your appeal for granted.

We hope to complete planting around the square very soon; thanks for your patience.
