-A A +A

The Kentucky Baptist Men's and Women's Chorales and Wind Orchestra performed – in a combined concert of more than 75 voices – at First Baptist Church, Hodgenville, on Sept. 24.

The chorales are composed of about 75 percent professional musicians from throughout the state. They are ministers of music in Baptist churches in Kentucky, professors of music in universities, and teachers of music at various school levels. The others are lay musicians who enjoy singing praises to God.

Chorale members travel at their own expense to perform worship concerts of traditional hymn arrangements, spirituals and contemporary pieces. They have toured Brazil, Russia, Holland, Italy, and Germany, singing in schools, churches, concert halls and public parks. A mission trip to several cities in Italy is being planned for July 2012.

Kentucky concerts for the coming year have been scheduled for Corbin, Paducah, Florence, Lawrenceburg and Shepherdsville.

Chorale members who have connections to LaRue and Hardin Counties include Eddie Russell, Susan Byers, Sheila Witten, Glenda Patterson, Bonnie Cruse, Carolyn Smith, Steve Skaggs, who conducts the Wind Orchestra, and Bill Thomas, former Minister of Music at First Baptist, Hodgenville.
