Kelton “Putt Putt” Ford, a junior point guard for the LaRue County Hawks was invited to try out for the Kentucky Junior All Star team.

Tryouts were held May 6 at Georgetown College and included some of the top junior basketball players in the state.

Ford was selected to play with the Kentucky Junior All-Stars who will scrimmage the Kentucky Senior All-Star team in Lexington on June 4 and the Indiana Junior All-Stars on June 15 in Indianapolis.

Ford is coming off a stellar season at LaRue County where he helped lead the Hawks to a 23-8 record, a fourth consecutive 18th District Title and a sixth consecutive 5th Region appearance.

Ford averaged 19.2 points per game last season for the Hawks.

“Putt Putt has really worked hard to get where he is at right now,” said Hawks Head Coach Paul Childress. “He has put a lot of time in the gym on his own and is really developing into an outstanding point guard. If he stays hungry and continues to work hard, he could become one of the best point guards in Kentucky next season. The Kentucky Junior All-Star team is a great honor. I know he is really excited about competing against some of the top talent in Kentucky and Indiana.”

Kelton is the son of Hawks assistant coach Simon Ford.
