Fans attending the Lincoln Jamboree Nov. 14 were pleasantly surprised when, after the opening number, featured singer Heidi Shea Baldwin introduced Joel Ray Sprowls, who walked onstage to a long, loud ovation.
Sprowls, owner and producer of the Jamboree since he started the country music show in 1954, returned to the stage for the first time after suffering a stroke Oct. 30 at his residence about three miles from Hodgenville.
He was a patient at Hardin Memorial Hospital for five days. Despite the stroke, he missed only two Jamboree performances before returning.
