The accolades keep coming for recent graduate and Lady Hawk Christian Cox.

Cox was named to second team All-State in Class 2A fast-pitch softball Sunday.

“This is another great accomplishment to end her high school career,” said Lady Hawk coach Mielle DiStefano.

“Anytime our program can get attention on the state level, you know our program is doing something right.”

Cox, the daughter of Mike and Joy Cox, joins an “elite list of Lady Hawks who have made either first team or second team all state,” DiStefano said.

“Christian is very deserving of this honor and I know her family, coaching staff, and teammates are extremely proud of her.”

Cox also has been selected to play for the West Senior team in the annual East vs. West Senior All Star game June 12-14 at the University of Kentucky. Cox, the Lady Hawk shortstop, will play three games that weekend, two seven-inning games on Saturday, and one nine inning game on Sunday.

Players and coaches will arrive in Lexington on June 12 and have an afternoon practice followed by a pizza party. The morning of June 13, the East Juniors will play the East Seniors and the West Juniors will take on the West Seniors in a pair of seven-inning contests.

The afternoon of June 13, the East Juniors take on the West Seniors and the East Seniors play the West Juniors in a pair of seven-inning games.

A player and hall of fame reception follows that night.

The weekend concludes June 14 with the nine-inning East Seniors-West Seniors game at 10 a.m. and the nine-inning East Juniors-West Juniors game at 12:30 p.m.

Cox, who has signed a scholarship with NCAA Division 1 Murray State University, is the fifth Lady Hawk to make the East/West All Star Game.

“I hope she does well, so we can have another Lady Hawk representing us on the Kentucky All Star team that plays Tennessee’s All Stars in the annual Border War,” said DiStefano.

DiStefano will coach the West Junior All Stars.

Tickets for the games will be $15 for a weekend pass (all games); $8 for a one-day ticket or $5 for the final game.
