Though students are absent, maintenance and custodial personnel continue to work through the summer preparing each of LaRue County’s public schools for the next session.
“They take the furniture out of the classrooms, then strip and wax the floors,” said Phil Fulkerson, director of transportation and maintenance.
This year, maintenance personnel are redoing the high school cafeteria.
“They’re removing old flooring, putting in new tiles, tables, and a serving line,” Fulkerson said.
