Christ is risen. Christians throughout the world joined together Easter Sunday and every Sunday to worship a risen Lord. Because of His death, burial and resurrection, we can have life and have it to the full (John 10:10).
If Jesus had remained in the grave, there would have been no resurrection from the dead and Christians would have no hope. Our faith would be useless. But Christ was raised from the dead and we are able to sing, “He arose! He arose! Hallelujah Christ arose!”
We are not a people to be pitied or to feel sorry for. We have a hope and our hope is founded on a historical fact: He is alive! Jesus was crucified, He died, He was buried, but on the third day He arose from the grave. This is the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
Jesus ascended to heaven. He is now seated on the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. One day He will come again to judge the living and the dead and He will reign forever and forever and forever.
Easter is all about Jesus Christ: Born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for sin, rose from the dead. He did this so we can have hope, live and purpose. This is the most important day on the church calendar.
Christians have a reason to celebrate. Jesus is no longer on the cross. The grave clothes are empty. The tomb is empty. Jesus is risen just as He said He would. Death has been defeated. The penalty of sin has been paid for. Through Christ we can have our sins forgiven.
The cross is empty. The grave clothes have been abandoned. The tomb is vacant. All of these so that our lives can be full. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
Where there was death, there is now life. Where there was emptiness, there is now fullness. Where there was fear, there is now peace. Now we can have a purpose for living.
