Hawks on roll before entering district tourney

Senior Austin Hinton threw a one-hitter as the homestanding Hawks rolled past 5th Region foe Fort Knox May 14 with a 10-0 victory in five innings.

Hinton struck out eight, walked four and gave up a single to Fort Knox freshman Alex Wendel in the fourth.

Senior Kelton Ford went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored for the Hawks, who blew the game open with a six-run fourth.

Senior Caleb Canter singled and drove in two runs, while eighth-grader Cameron Dawson singled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Nelson nipped

Canter drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning to score freshman Dalton Metcalf to seal the 5-4 defeat of the Nelson County Cardinals.

It was the Hawks’ third straight win over the Cardinals.

Senior Jordan McGaw went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Canter singled and drove in three runs.

Senior Cole Hughes struck out eight and gave up eight hits, four walks and four earned runs in seven innings.

Warren Central

The host Dragons of Warren Central defeated LaRue Friday 13-4.

The Dragons won their 12th game this season by taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning and scoring eight in the fourth.

Sophomore Koy Lindsey drove in a pair of runs for the Hawks.

Eighth-grader Cameron Dawson allowed eight runs, four of which were earned.
